Location Description | This affects the whole of the cycle lane which runs for 1 mile from the A1 turn off to the Caldburne Drive/Southgate Mews roundabout |
Road Name | Great North Road A197 |
Hazard Type | Other |
Hazard Description | The cycle lane from the A1 at Clifton into Morpeth is hazardous due to a very poor road surface, multiple potholes and sunken manhole covers. It is not possible to cycle that stretch without veering into the road itself which is busy and relatively narrow for cars passing cyclists. The cars understandably don't tend to give cyclists much room as they expect bikes to be in the bike lane. |
