The council as the Highways authority is under no obligation to carry out repairs or cleansing to the street even though it is a public right of way to which highway and traffic law can be applied. If you wish the road to become adopted then the householders are legally liable to pay any cost for their adoption. You can apply for the road to be adopted; the streets with the greatest level of support will be given priority. For further information on road adoption please contact 01274 433707.
