Lambeth’s Highways department are aware of the deteriorating carriageway conditions on Crown Lane.

The Lambeth’s Highways department are placing traffic signs on site to warn drivers of the conditions and requesting that they slow down to a sensible speed. Lambeth’s Highways department are also investigating whether they can impose an emergency 20mph speed restriction.

Emergency preparations are being made for a complete resurfacing of Crown Lane, from the junction with Knights Hill, to 50m past the junction with Leigham Court Road. Lambeth’s Highways department will be meeting with Transport for London and London Buses on site, 9th of March, to negotiate an approval for an early start on the emergency resurfacing works as mentioned above.

NB: The emergency resurfacing of Crown Lane is dependent on agreement with TfL. Lambeth’s Highways department also have a duty to inform all statutory undertakers i.e Thames Water, BT, Gas, Cable firms, etc as the road will be exempt from any further works for 5 years following resurfacing. In normal circumstances Lambeth’s Highways department would have to give 3 months notice to all statutory undertakers when planning such resurfacing works
