CTC teamed up with construction company Aggregate Industries during 2011 to offer a high profile, celebrity supported awards for the local authorities that provided the best pothole fixes between mid January and mid April.
Award categories
There were two award categories for councils:
- Highest percentage of potholes fixed – based on the website statistics
- People’s vote – website users were invited to mark local authorities on effectiveness of response
Winners
The winning authority in 2011 was Cheshire West and Chester Council. Their prize was to meet the supporting celebrity, to undertake official presentation photography and to be featured in a national PR campaign to promote their achievement, with rights to use the awards photography in their own local and regional PR campaigns. Brent Council was the runner up.
Tick that fix
Authorities confirmed they had repaired potholes by ticking them as fixed on the Fill That Hole website.
If you work in a highways authority, tick your fixes on Fill That Hole and watch your ratings rise.
There are three ways local authorities can tick fixes.
- Use your own personal account to manage pothole reports (see I work for a highway authority, how can I update hazard records?) or
- Click the link in your hazard report confirmation email to link to the hazard update form or
- Reply to the hazard report confirmation email
